The Doctor is in with
a woodworking DVD that challenges your present skills
and teaches you new ones.
You’ll follow the process toward the completion
of: 2 Three Drawer Chests and a Two Door Cupboard constructed
from 2 sheets of cabinet grade Red Oak Plywood and Red Oak
Solids.
Will the cabinet designs assure you entry into the
International Contemporary Furniture Fair? ……….NO! But
through their design you will be exposed to construction
techniques that already have been juried and displayed
on the Javitz Convention Center floor.

Because the cabinets
are designed to mydefinition of “Transitional Furniture”,
you’ll be exposed to a style of combining contemporary
materials with traditional icons.
Furnitology 101 uses economic
Cabinetmaking tools: the table saw, router, band saw
or saber saw, files, rasps, clamps, sanding machines
and most importantly eye, ear, and lung safety equipment. As
a fine woodworking highlight, Furnitology 101,
has spindle turning on the wood lathe, along with the
layout and construction of the simplest complex curve,
the basis for the astonishingly beautiful; cabriole
leg.
As we all challenge our woodworking skills, and reach more towards larger case
goods such as bedroom suites; thinking of personal cost and the
limited availability of quality grade lumber; “solid wood
construction” will become more and more difficult to do.
The cabinets selected in the DVD Furnitology 101 are intended
to expose you to the entire construction process and to help
address the future of personal woodworking and furniture design. |
